In 2026, Mercari charges sellers a flat 10% of the sale total, including buyer-paid shipping. The widely publicized 0%-seller-fee structure from 2024 is gone, but so is the separate payment-processing charge — 10% is the whole selling fee. Buyers additionally pay a 3.6% purchase-protection fee at checkout.
Mercari's fee history causes real confusion: in March 2024 it dropped seller fees to 0% and moved costs to buyers, then reversed course and reinstated a flat 10% seller fee. Many calculators and blog posts still show 0% — they're out of date, and pricing against them overstates your payout by exactly 10%.
Two costs sit outside the 10%: payouts cost $2 per standard direct deposit ($3 for Instant Pay), which matters on small balances, and the buyer-side 3.6% protection fee effectively raises your item's price at checkout, which can matter when buyers comparison-shop across platforms.
Fees last verified July 2026 against Mercari's published fee information. Excludes optional promoted/boosted listings, seller-paid shipping labels, payout-withdrawal fees, and sales tax.

Mercari fee questions, answered
What fees does Mercari charge sellers in 2026?
A flat 10% of the sale total, including buyer-paid shipping. There is no separate payment-processing fee. Payouts cost $2 per standard direct deposit or $3 for Instant Pay.
Is Mercari still 0% seller fees?
No. Mercari's 0%-seller-fee structure from 2024 ended when the company reinstated selling fees. In 2026 sellers pay a flat 10%; buyers pay a separate 3.6% purchase-protection fee at checkout.
How much do I keep from a $50 sale on Mercari?
With $8 buyer-paid shipping, Mercari's 10% applies to the $58 total, so the fee is $5.80 and you keep $44.20 of the item price — before the $2 direct-deposit payout fee and your product costs.
Does Mercari charge fees on shipping?
Yes — the 10% seller fee applies to the full sale total including buyer-paid shipping. Charging more for shipping increases Mercari's cut.
How do Mercari fees compare with eBay, Poshmark, and Depop?
Mercari's flat 10% sits in the middle: cheaper than eBay (about 14% including the order fee) and Poshmark (20%), but well above Depop's roughly 3–5% effective rate for US sellers. Cross-listing the same item to several platforms is the common way to stop the fee difference from deciding where you sell.
